Cobb Chamber Recognizes Small Businesses

recently named the top 25 small businesses of the year for Cobb County and three Smyrna businesses were among the honorees.

Blue Wave Computing LLC, Innovative Marketing and Design and The Service Fort LLC were designated three of the top 25 small businesses in the county.

Pat Mahony, director of marketing for Blue Wave Computing, explained how the IT firm was named to the list.

“We built our company in Smyrna and actually built it from the ground up, so we own the building,” she said. “How we differentiate from the competition—we’ve won numerous awards and we’ve continuously grown since our inception.”

Blue Wave Computing and the other businesses named to the list had to fill out an application proving that they met the size requirements for a small business and provide a cover letter.

Stephanie Wilson, president of Innovative Marketing and Design, said she was honored to be recognized for the company’s hard work.

“As a small, woman-owned certified business you’re up against insurmountable odds sometimes of trying to juggle and doing whatever you want to do in your business and take control of your business without losing that work/life balance or that competitive edge that male-owned businesses sometimes have,” she said. “We were just thrilled when they took notice.”

One of the 25 top small businesses will be named the 2012 Small Business of the Year at the June First Monday Breakfast at the Cobb Galleria Centre. , hailed from Smyrna.
