Cobb County Convention and Visitors Bureau gets a makeover

The new Cobb Travel and Tourism is ready to make an impact on tourism in Cobb County.

After 20 years promoting “the best of Atlanta” the Cobb County Convention and Visitors Bureau has a new name, a new look and a new tagline.

The newly branded Cobb Travel and Tourism is transforming its image to better promote Cobb County. CTT reports that a recent study found that tourism is Cobb’s number one economic factor and has an economic impact of $1.73 billion and employees more than 25,000 people.

Holly Bass, CTT CEO and Smyrna resident, explained at the group’s annual meeting Thursday, Nov. 10 that it is common for people in the hospitality industry to update their organizations every five to seven years. Before rebranding, CTT hadn’t updated its image since 1991.

The agency launched its new website and tag, “Atlanta’s sweet spot,” at the meeting Thursday. Bass said that it was important for CTT to maintain its connection with Atlanta.

“Whenever I travel somewhere, I say I’m from Atlanta, not Smyrna, because Atlanta is the identifier,” she said. “But while it’s important to be connected, it’s also important to establish our own identity.”

CTT’s rebranding is almost a year in the making and began in December 2010 when the group hired a research and economic development firm to analyze its effectiveness. Market Street Services, the firm that conducted the study, also provided a plan that outlines how to promote tourism in Cobb over the next three years.
