Daycare center coming to Home Depot headquarters

Construction work has begun on the 36,900-square-foot daycare center at Home Depot's Store Support Center at 2455 Paces Ferry Road.

The Home Depot’s Store Support Center will be seeing about 300 new faces on its campus next summer, but these won’t be new hires. The company is in the process of building a daycare for its employees.

The 36,900-square-foot facility will feature 22 classrooms, three playgrounds and a 1,587-square-foot indoor play area. The daycare center is being built at Home Depot’s headquarters at 2455 Paces Ferry Road near Building B and will connect to the building with a bridge.

There will be 278 full-time spots available for children ages six weeks to 5 years old and 48 spots for school-aged children during summer and school breaks. Tuition will be competitive to other local childcare facilities.

Bright Horizons, the world’s leader in employee-sponsored childcare, will manage the daycare. The company will employ about 70 teachers and staff to take care of the kids.

Bright Horizons is no stranger to Atlanta. It already runs 17 employee-sponsored daycare programs in the area. However, Home Depot’s employee-sponsored daycare service will be unique in that it’s not just available to employees who work at the store support center. Associates from stores throughout metro Atlanta are welcome to enroll their children in the program.

If the daycare’s capacity is reached during sign up, a lottery will determine which children attend the daycare.
