This appears to be a great event, but the parking and traffic is a nightmare. The police were in place trying to keep people from double parking and parking in the street, but then traffic would stop in the road and there were several near misses. I heard one guy cussing the police because the lot was full. The cop did a great job of keeping his calm, because I would have cussed him right back. If I was the church I would close my parking lot, the food truck customers ruined thier grass, just in time for school to start. They needed about 10 officers instead of 4, but then who's going to deal with the other issues in the City. Again, great idea, great event, but HORRIBLE location.

Smyrna does everything they can to showcase The Taylor-Brawner Park which can be a good thing or a bad thing. Food Truck Tuesdays is turning out to be not so good. It needs to be taken over by a business and run like a business. A business person wouldn't have it there because it's not the proper venue.

Very true, Smyrna Resident.

I think it is a great and beautiful venue. Just park a little further away and walk!!!

Maybe they could run a free trolley system from the Old Kroger to the park so people wouldn't have to worry about traffic and parking, and they wouldn't have to walk a few blocks from their homes. LOL... Sorry, couldn't help the sarcasim. ;-)

Yes – A Free trolley - with Free gas – with a Free driver. They (whoever that is) should also give us Free stuff for riding on the trolley. I will take a bologna sandwich
Everyone . . . Everyone to Taylor-Brawner Park – Park on the church grass – Jesus Loves You – He will understand - Double park on the street – Cuss the police - Give your disposable income to the food truck people. I am positive that they contribute to the local economy before they disappear into the bowels of the metro (probably ITP). When another Smyrna business closes their door – We can blame on the Mayor.

The city has a 501(c)3 called Smyrna Education Foundation. If you look at their web site they list things they're doing to promote schools. To promote public schools. Note the word public. They ask for donations but show nothing that they have done with that money. And a portion of the proceeds from the food trucks supports this organization. On its web site it says the best way to learn about a school is to take a tour. Then why does this organization exist. What purpose has it served.

I, for one, am happy to support public schools. Me, my brothers and sisters, and nieces and nephews all graduated from or attend public schools. In fact, nearly everybody I know either went to and/or have kids who went to public schools. I have no idea why anybody would be opposed to supporting them, but here we are.

Are these the apartments that were once called "Garrison Plantation"?
Lissa K. June 15, 2013 at 09:32 pm
This is Garrison Plantation - Garrison Lakes - Lakefront Vista. I lived there when it was familyRead More owned. It went from sister to brother then sold. Changed name from Garrison Plantation (because it wasn't PC) (but no one thought about what a garrison was) to Garrison Lakes (there's only one lake) to Lakefront Vista (under new ownership.) It's a dump now. The layout and size of the apts. are great. Even the location is great. Still know some people there. But it went downhill.

I'd rather answer the question "How do you feel about Roswell Street Baptist Church?" MyRead More answer: can't stand it. This incident is just another in its long and bigoted history. During the anti gay lifestyle debacle it gave out copies of the 10 Commandments. That anti gay resolution drafted by Gordon Wysong and enacted by the Cobb Co. Commissioners cost the county an Olympic venue. Whenever I hear about that church I think of the OM who called the church's prominent members The Marietta Mafia!

Its sad, that young people who are gay and often struggle to accept themselves as they are, faceRead More such fury and rejection by a church that preaches love, compassion and forgiveness for most but not all. No wonder many young people, the vast majority of whom are or will be heterosexual find the church increasingly irrelevant in their lives with attitudes like this.
