Great wine, food and desserts indeed!

Whatever your taste, you can find it here in Smyrna-Vinings.

Some people can be a bit fanatical about the type and quality of vino they imbibe. Others are happy to drink anything that isn’t labeled “Boone’s Farm.” Regardless of which side you most resemble, Pinot Noir Smackdown is guaranteed to be a tippling good time. Seriously, according to owner Renee Rowe, Pinot Smackdown is “a global celebration of the world’s most expressive wine grape combined with a knock-down, drag-out cage fight between your favorite Pinot-producing regions.” We’re intrigued.

On Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m., drop into The Wine Cellars to find out who the purple contenders are. Rowe comments, “Here's the twist: Tweet your vote for the world’s best Pinot to @PinotSmackdown, then join us at The Wine Cellars and we'll count the votes so that region gets bragging rights for the night!” International Pinots will be available in flights of three for only $12.99. – Jennifer Duncan  

Speaking of vino, will be hosting a special evening on Sept. 1 featuring Washington’s state’s oldest and most acclaimed award-winning winery - Chateau Ste. Michelle. The pairings of the four-course meal have a certain Pacific Northwest feel and sound simply delicious. The cost is $65 a person (including tax and gratuity; excluding online service fee). But if wine isn’t your thing, then SCKV also has recently updated its cocktail list with like likes of such concoctions called, “Illegal Sermon,’’ the “Watermelon Crawl’’ and the “Papa Doble.’’ Yum!

Of course, man cannot live by drink alone, and some of area’s best food can be found at . And its no surprise that the American bistro, , has been included in this year’s edition of “Battle of the Burgers.’’ A total of 25 Atlanta restaurants will be competing for the best burger, with proceeds going to Embraced, a 501 (c) (3) organization who’s mission is to ensure that all people have access to quality orthopedic and prosthetic devices that can improve the quality of their lives.
