New sandwich shop set to open in the West Village

Subway is currently offering a catered seminar event as part of a national goodwill publicity campaign to promote health and nutrition in the workplace through its corporate wellness initiative.

A Subway restaurant will soon be sandwiched in between and in the West Village shopping center. The new store is scheduled to open this coming Friday.

Owner Kunal Lad explained that this store will be different from a standard Subway.

“The theme of our Subway is a little more upscale,” he said. “I’ve got a lot of upgrades in there with lounge-type seating. We’re trying to mix it up with the neighborhood, make sure it matches with all the high-end features they offer there.”

The new Subway will offer a big-screen television and lounge chairs. Lad hopes to eventually add outdoor furniture and Wi-Fi Internet.

Lad plans to treat the West Village Subway like a family business with his wife acting as manager. The sense of community that Lad is fostering in his store is a theme throughout the Subway franchise.
