Vinings business news is a 'Piece of Cake'

Here's a rundown of some of real estate happenings in and around the Vinings area.

See who’s moving in and who’s moving out this month with some Vinings real estate news you can use.

Vinings welcomed a new bakery last week. Piece of Cake, located at 3220 Cobb Parkway in the old location, opened for business last Thursday and is the company's fifth store with the others in Buckhead, Roswell, Decatur and Dunwoody.

Piece of Cake offers brownies, cookies, cupcakes in two different sizes, cake by the slice and whole layer cakes in flavors like white chocolate, caramel, carrot, red velvet and coconut. The shop also offers seasonal flavors. This month’s offerings include strawberry, lemon and key lime pie. Look out for September’s flavors: banana and peanut butter.

Piece of Cake will pass out free samples at its grand opening celebration Wednesday, Aug. 31. The shop is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For a complete list of prices, visit Piece of Cake’s website.

In other real estate news, a Marietta technical school is relocating its headquarters to Vinings. Medtech was founded in Indianapolis in 2004 and focuses on business, health care and technology on its 11 campuses throughout the Midwest and the Southeast.

The school recently signed a 10-year-lease with PM Realty Group and will be moving into an 11,000 square-foot space at Overlook II.

“Medtech is enjoying significant growth and we are excited to have a standalone headquarters,” Mark Chesney, vice president of strategy and development for Medtech, said in a press release. “Our new home has great amenities and is within walking distance of a number of shops, hotels and restaurants.”

While two new business moved in, an old Vinings business relocated. Antiques of Vinings has spent the past 18 years at Vinings Jubilee, but moved back to its original location at the historic Smith House, at the beginning of August.

“We are delighted to return to that location, and our old and new customers will be amazed at the large display space, easy parking, and pleasant shopping atmosphere we now have,” Melody Wickliffe, Antiques of Vinings co-owner, said in an email.

Wickliffe boasts that Antiques of Vinings carries items for every budget and style. This multi-dealer shop features American and English furniture, art and decorative items. Antiques of Vinings can be found at 5 Mountain Street near the . The shop is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
