Visions for Vacancies: Lots at Dunton Street and Concord Road

The City Council authorized the Downtown Development Authority's potential purchase of a property many consider an eyesore Monday. Now we want to know what you'd like to see there.

Visions for Vacancies is Smyrna-Vinings Patch's new weekly feature that looks at a vacant building and asks readers what they'd like to see there. This is your chance to dream big. If it was up to you, what would you open there?

The property at the intersection of Dunton Street and Concord Road . Many Smyrna residents consider the site's rusting metal frame an eyesore. Smyrna City Council authorized the Downtown Development Authority's potential purchse of the property at its meeting Monday, but the city doesn't have a plan for the property yet.

Here's where you get to weigh in. What would you like to see at this site? Before the recession it was supposed to be a shopping destination called The Shops of Smyrna Heights. In 2011 a developer expressed interest in building a liquor store there. Most recently city officials have indicated they might turn it into a park or greenspace. If money and zoning regulations were no deterrent, what would you open in this location? Would you complete the partially finished structure or tear it down? Tell us in the comments.
