Smyrna resident, Mary Colston Named Donor Development Director for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Georgia Chapter announces Mary Colston as the new Donor Development Director for the Georgia Chapter.
In Mary’s new role, she will be responsible for donor development activity within the chapter's assigned area. This includes major outright gifts, institutional giving, foundation giving, planned giving and donor stewardship activity. Mary started at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in 2009 as Light The Night Walk Sr. Campaign Manager and was later promoted to Light The Night Walk Director in 2010.  During her time with the Light The Night Walk, the campaign saw double digit growth. In 2011, she started a new Light The Night Walk in Cumming, GA which became the second largest Walk in Georgia in its first year. She has also participated with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training campaign for three events, the 2011 Disney Princess Half Marathon, the 2012 Publix Georgia Marathon and the 2012 Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Half Marathon.
Before joining LLS, Mary worked with the March of Dimes for four years. Mary lives in Atlanta, GA with her husband Wes and enjoys running as a hobby. She is from Carrollton, GA and earned a Bachelor’s in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from the University of West Georgia, and a Masters degree in Nonprofit Management from the University of Central Florida.
“We are so fortunate to have Mary on our team who has dedicated herself to the fight against blood cancers,” said Piper Medcalf, Executive Director of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Georgia Chapter. “Our chapter will continue to thrive and grow under her leadership.”
The Georgia Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, headquartered in Atlanta, helps those diagnosed with blood cancers throughout the state with financial and emotional support. With campaigns such as Team In Training, Light The Night Walk, Man & Woman of the Year and Pennies for Patients, the organization raises more than $7 million each year to help fund its mission.
