Whiz Kid's Accomplishment:  Lydia, a Smyrna resident, is currently visiting Ethiopia for the month of April. (Lydia's family is from Ethiopia). She is working on her senior project - to research, volunteer, and advocate for a non-profit organization called, “Grace for All Center.’’ (The purpose of The Lovett School's senior project is to allow a senior to create and pursue an educational objective or opportunity that cannot be pursued during the normal school day or within the normal academic curriculum. Through senior projects, students may investigate possible careers, test their skills in the marketplace, and explore the wider world beyond Lovett. In keeping with the school's philosophy, senior projects encourage service to others, moral and environmental awareness, and a sensitivity to issues of global significance.) Lydia is teaching English to the children at the Grace for All Center - the students at Grace for All have lost parents to HIV/AIDS. Lydia would like to bring more recognition to Grace for All so that more people will provide support and funding of this non-profit.

Other Info About Lydia: Lydia plays the violin and viola in the school orchestra and plays the piano outside of school. Lydia loves children and helps younger Lovett students with their homework during the after school program. She is also a camp counselor at Lovett's summer camps. Lydia is in the Spanish Club and participated in a Spanish emersion program last summer in Cadiz, Spain. Lydia wants to major in pre-med, but has not decided which college to attend yet.
