Halloween Fun in the ATL

Looking for some Halloween fun near Smyrna-Vinings? Here are some family activities to get you into the spooky spirit of the season.

From zombie walks and costume contests to haunted houses and hayrides (to haunted anything!), the Halloween season casts its spell and awakens our inner ghouls and goblins. As part of FrightQuest—a MapQuest series on spooky destinations and activities—here are three options to celebrate Halloween in Atlanta that are sure to be a scream.

Little 5 Points Halloween Parade & Festival

The annual Little 5 Points Halloween Parade & Festival is one of the biggest Halloween events in the state. The diverse neighborhood claims "flavor from New Orleans' French Quarter and Manhattan's Greenwich Village," making it the right venue for the eccentric crowds drawn to the parade. Events at the Halloween festival run the gamut from a costume parade to the gory Chamber of Horror and more. Multiple stages host musical guests, and the festival wouldn't be complete without numerous options for food and drink.

Stone Mountain Park Pumpkin Festival

Stone Mountain Park's annual Pumpkin Festival is a monthlong event that takes place every weekend from the end of September until Halloween. From Friday through Sunday, kids can dress their own scarecrows, trick-or-treat, go on a scavenger hunt with their parents and siblings, enter the costume contest and, of course, carve their own pumpkins. The whole family can also enjoy storytelling, pie-eating contests and a laser show, which takes place every Saturday night. Entrance to the festival is included in the Adventure Pass, which includes access to a number of other attractions in Stone Mountain Park.
