M’am, this is a warning: Put down the ham and step away from the kitchen! Easter is a special day to enjoy family time together and no one really wants to spend the day slaving over a stove. The stylish Renaissance Waverly Hotel invites you to enjoy the day off from cooking while you savor an unforgettable brunch, served on Sunday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Splurging on the decadent array of delicious items here is totally worth the money and calories. The spectacular buffet showcases traditional Easter favorites such as rosemary and garlic crusted lamb leg and carved prime rib, as well as braised duck, oysters on the half shell, crab legs, peel-and-eat shrimp, an omelet station and much, much more. With all this delicious plenty, you may be hard pressed to pace yourself, but one glimpse of the outrageous desserts from the Waverly bakery kitchen will change your mind. Adult brunch is $49 and children 6 to 11 are $18. Kids 5 and under eat for free. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 770-953-4500 x4197. Self-parking is available during the Easter brunch.

For a small (but growing!) town, Smyrna has a huge heart when it comes to community spirit. One of the ways our jovial Jonquil City shows its true colors is when joining together and putting on city-wide events. Next weekend, the city’s behind-the-scenes machinery will be cranking into high gear as The Jonquil Festival takes over the Market Village Center on April 30th and May 1st. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days, the beloved Jonquil Festival features artists’ booths, live music, entertainment, puppet shows, Friends of the Library Book Sale, a tasty variety of festival food and much more. The same fun-filled weekend also involves the annual Arthur Bacon Golf Tournament and the Jonquil City Jog 5K, which benefits Campbell High School Educational Foundation, Inc. And as a wacky side note (or incentive to run), first-place winners in each category each receive a free key lime pie.
