"These cartels are the pipeline for many dangerous drugs in our country and are responsible for many of the acts of violence in Mexico today. Because of the dedication and hard work of all law enforcement agencies involved, these criminals will no longer distribute the destructive and deadly substances that wreak havoc in our neighborhoods."

Byrne Proposes ‘City of East Cobb’
Imagine if you will: Johnson Ferry Road becoming the official heartbeat of a true City of East Cobb.
Imagine once again a real East Cobb City Hall, most likely in that corridor -- no, not -- where citizens could pay for municipally-provided services and keep tabs on their mayor and city council.

Cobb School Board Delays Censure Talks
The Cobb Board of Education was supposed to discuss a possible censure measure against one of its own members on Wednesday, but that move has been postponed.
Board member Kathleen Angelucci, who last month , asked for the delay so the full board could take up the matter.
Fellow board member Lynnda Eagle was absent from Wednesday's regular work session. A discussion of the options facing the board has been put on the agenda of its Sept. 12 work session.

Aries Merritt Wins Olympic Gold
Aries Merritt, who graduated from Wheeler in 2003 and whose family resides in Mableton, raced to the gold in men's 110-meter hurdles race Wednesday in London, turning in a time 12.92 seconds.
He edged out fellow American Jason Richardson, who won the silver medal, and bronze medalist Hansle Parchment of Jamaica. Dayron Robles of Cuba, who was the gold medalist at Beijing in 2008, did not finish after pulling out due to an injury.

Crum and Forster Lives On
Preservationists attended Wednesday’s Atlanta Urban Design Commission (URC) hearing concerning the fate of the Crum & Forster building looking to convince more than three-fourths of the commission not to accept the recent findings of an Economic Review Panel that agreed with the Georgia Tech Foundation’s application to demolish the rear two-thirds of the Midtown Landmark building.
They did better than that as all seven members of the UDC ultimately voted to reject the panel’s recommendation and Tech’s application in yet another victory for Crum & Forster supporters over the course of the last four years.
