5 South Cobb Men Indicted on Drug Trafficking and Money Laundering Charges

Following a yearlong, multi-agency investigation of two drug trafficking organizations, five South Cobb men and nine others have been indicted and arrested on charges of trafficking narcotics from Mexico and laundering the drug money.

During the course of the investigation of both narcotics trafficking rings, a total of $1.6 million, multiple kilograms of cocaine and crystal methamphetamine were seized.

“The indictment of these 14 defendants is a step toward making Atlanta a safer community,” stated U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates in a release.

Alleged Gay Assault at Atlantic Station

Details surrounding an alleged assault on a gay man Saturday night as he exited an Atlantic Station parking garage were still emerging Monday afternoon.

As Project Q Atlanta reported, the victim was at the mixed-use development to attend the gay-friendly Fenuxe Fire Party in the former Fox Sports Grill space. The incident occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m.

According to the Atlanta Police, the 50-year-old victim said he was walking in the west district area of Atlantic Station when he asked a male and female couple for directions. The white male then reportedly asked him, “Are you gay?” When the victim replied that he was, he said the man knocked him to the ground with a punch to the face, striking his head as he fell.

Mableton Subway Robbed

Cobb Police are investigating an armed robbery and aggravated assault, which occurred at Subway at 1025 Veterans Memorial Highway in Mableton.

Investigators said that on Sunday at 5 p.m., two African-American men (pictured here) entered the sandwich shop and asked customers to lie on the ground. One of the men showed the customers his handgun as he ordered them to get down while the other man removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and fled.

Child Injured in BB Gun Accident

Dunwoody Police are reporting an injury to a 7-year-old who shot the primer from a bullet in his BB gun Monday afternoon and was hurt.

The youth was not named. Police say that the child shot the primer from a 40-caliber bullet in his BB gun and then was injured by the shrapnel.

In a move stemming from the publication of an April Fool's edition of a student-run newspaper that called President Barack Obama "a Nazi," the  has ordered that all journalistic content must be approved by the school's principal.

Some of the reasons were, "because his dog is ugly," "he's a Nazi," and, "he's black."
