Spring Jonquil Festival This Weekend

Head to downtown Smyrna this weekend for the 2013 Spring Jonquil Festival.

Looking for fun activities for the whole family or simply in a festive mood? Don't miss the 2013 Spring Jonquil Festival this Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and 28, in the Village Green in downtown Smyrna.

The Spring Jonquil Festival has been a tradition in the community for 24 years. This year, more than 175 arts and crafts vendors will be featured, as well as local non-profits and festive food from area restaurants.

Event hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, and 12-5 p.m. on Sunday, April 28. Admission is free, and entertainment includes Peter Hart's Atlanta Puppet Show, live music including J. Scott Thompson from the Peachtree Station, and a variety of activities for children such as inflatables, sand art and fire truck displays.

The Featured Artists Market, a highlight of the Spring Jonquil Festival, will include artisans from all over the southeast to showcase their hand-made crafts, paintings, clothing, furniture and jewelry.

Residents may also find great deals at the book sale held by the Friends of the Smyrna Library, while food lovers get to enjoy all kinds of festive food and Southern favorites.

If you are on the active side, don't forget the Jonquil City Jog 5K that will be taking place Saturday before the festival kicks off. At the annual Peachtree Qualifier race, you will get to run or walk for fun, prizes, and to support local schools. Click here to find out how to participate.
