Carols For Christmas at St. Philip UMC

Mt. Bethel UMC Brings Christmas Performance to West Cobb
Performance at St. Philip’s UMC will feature national solo artists

Marietta, GA - November 1, 2012 -- An eagerly awaited Marietta tradition, this year’s annual Mt Bethel UMC Christmas event, titled “Twas the Night Before Christmas” will premiere at St. Philip’s UMC in West Cobb. The concert will be held December 2 at 5 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Music and drama will provide a thought provoking twist to the familiar theme by showcasing what individuals’ lives are like the night before Christmas and how light and joy is brought into our hearts if we choose to believe.

The event will include nationally known guest soloists -- soprano Indra Thomas and Atlanta baritone Robert McMichael. Thomas is a not-to-be-missed internationally acclaimed soprano who has built a successful career performing in operas around the globe.  McMichael has performed in many gospel and spiritual musical events in the Atlanta area. His passionate performances have a transformative effect on the listener.

Adding to this talented bill is Mt. Bethel Director of Music Arts, Chuck Newman, a gifted pianist and musician. Chuck has performed with various internationally known solo and group artists — from Reba McEntire to the Billy Graham Association to the Gaither Family — over the past twenty years.

Director Ira Pittman will lead a cast of 125 singers, instrumentalists, dancers, and storytellers in an exciting event that will entertain and inspire audience members with beautiful Christmas music including familiar carols, rousing choruses, and sweet lullabies.

Join us for an evening of celebration and worship as we open our hearts to the miracle of Christmas.  St. Philip UMC is located at 2400 Favor Road, Marietta, Georgia.
