Humanists of Georgia Monthly Meeting

Mark Banks, President of the Atlanta Astronomy Club, will be speaking. His program will cover: Ancient Astronomy: The earliest Astronomers were the people who looked to the stars for information on the best time to plant/harvest there crops, to hunt or fish, to prepare for seasonal changes, or for navigation over long distances; The birth of modern Astronomy: When the Renaissance was beginning in Europe people like Galileo, Kepler, Copernicus, Newton and there contemporaries began to figure out what was going on in the sky; Astronomy now: All types of telescopes, Optical, infrared, ultraviolet, X-ray and radio now observed the universe from the ground, from space, or your back yard.
