Victim of Smyrna Man's Knife Needs Your Help

The family of the Acworth man is relying on donations while their sole breadwinner recovers from his Jan. 11 attack.

The victim of a Jan. 11 stabbing allegedly at the hands of a Smyrna man is still in the hospital and in a medically-induced coma, yet has no insurance.

Friends of 28-year-old Jeff Nelms of Acworth have set up a website where people can donate to help cover the family's expenses while Nelms is in the hospital.

The father of three needed emergency open-heart surgery at WellStar Kennestone Hospital after he was allegedly stabbed in the chest outside The Place Bar & Grill in Northeast Cobb by 28-year-old John Myer of Smyrna.

According to the Marietta Daily Journal, Nelms was stabbed coming to the defense of his wife after she accidentally bumped into Myer's truck as she was leaving her birthday party.
