More than 30 restaurants from Smyrna and beyond will serve up their dishes along the Village Green Saturday, Sept. 15 for the Taste of Smyrna.
The festival gets underway at 11 a.m. Admission is free and samples range in price from 50 cents to $4. Some of this year’s participants include Williamson Bros. BBQ, , , , and . See the map to the right for a complete list of participating eateries.
The Taste of Smyrna is not just about food. Scott Thompson will serenade festivalgoers from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with acoustic tunes near the Smyrna Library. Jon Byrd picks up where he leaves off at 3 p.m. at the Smyrna Veterans Memorial and then the Francisco Vidal Band takes the Village Green Stage at 6:30 p.m.
Kids get in on the fun too with inflatable slides, and a “human hamster ball.” The event is cash only, but an ATM will be set up at the corner of King and Bank streets.
The festival officially wraps up at 8 p.m., but stick around after the belated Smyrna birthday fireworks show. The fireworks show was originally scheduled in August to mark Smyrna’s 140th birthday, but was rescheduled when the party was rained out. Bring lawn chairs and blankets and create your own front row seat on the Village Green.
