The Chick-fil-A controversy continues, with company President Dan Cathy speaking out on recent events that led some to believe that the company was backing off its stance on marriage.

According to the Huffington Post, on Sept. 21, Cathy issued a statement on former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s website denying these reports, claiming the company has made no "concessions" to gay marriage supporters.

“There continues to be erroneous implications in the media that Chick-fil-A changed our practices and priorities in order to obtain permission for a new restaurant in Chicago. That is incorrect. Chick-fil-A made no such concessions, and we remain true to who we are and who we have been," Cathy's statement said.

Recently, Chicago Alderman Proco "Joe" Moreno declared that Chick-fil-A had agreed to cease donations to right-wing groups opposed to same-sex marriage.

The controversy began over the summer when Cathy, son of Chick-fil-A founder Truett Cathy, told a Baptist newsletter that the company was "guilty as charged" of supporting the biblical definition of marriage as begin between a man and a woman.

That drew criticism from supporters of same-sex marriage and those who point out Chick-fil-A's funding of groups that support the company's position on marriage.
