Cobb Fire to Help Burn Survivors

The "Give Burns the Boot" fundraising drive starts Friday.

Cobb County firefighters will be at local grocery stores and other businesses across the county for the next three Fridays to raise money for burn survivors.

The “Give Burns the Boot” fundraising drive will be held April 26, May 3 and May 10, said Denell Boyd, the spokeswoman for Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services.

"Every station will go in their territory to different locations that give them permission," she said.

Most stations are collecting donations at local Kroger grocery stores, while others will head to Chick-fil-A, the Town Center at Cobb food court and the Austell Walmart Supercenter, Boyd said.

Donations will benefit the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation, which runs Camp Oo-U-La, the state's only camp held exclusively for children recovering from burn injuries.

The foundation also supports the Burn Center at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta and the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta.
