Free Citizens Public Safety Academy

This free program only accepts 25 people, and starts in early September.

Smyrna-Vinings residents have the opportunity to take part in a free Citizens Public Safety Academy Program held by the Cobb County Department of Public Safety .

The summer-fall program allows Cobb residents to have an inside look at the various organizations that make up the Cobb County Department of Public Safety.

During the course, participants will learn about the Emergency Communications Center, animal control, fire and police departments, and the role each plays in protecting the citizens of Cobb County.

There is no charge for the 14-week program, but space is limited. Classes will be held every Tuesday evening beginning at 6:30 p.m. from Sept. 10 to Dec. 10. The location of the classes can change from week-to-week depending on the topic (or unit) being discussed or introduced.

Applicants must be at at least 21 years of age and a resident of Cobb County, or work for the Cobb County Government. Each applicant will also be pre-screened before being accepted into the program.

If you are interested in participating, please call Renee Cameron at the Cobb County Department of Public Safety Training Center at 770-590-5650 or email Renee.Cameron@cobbcounty.org by Friday, Aug. 9.
