Update: Pickpocket Thief Arrested

The suspect allegedly plucked wallets from purses at various Cobb grocery stores.

Update July 28:

Cobb County Police have charged Ricky Waller, 31, of Marietta with Theft by Taking and Credit Card Transaction Fraud. He is currently being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

Waller is accused of taking a wallet from a victim’s purse that was in her grocery cart at a Publix on Sandy Plains Road in Northeast Cobb. He then used the credit cards at other businesses, according to a statement released by Cobb PIO Mike Bowman.

He is suspected of similar theft at other locations in unincorporated Cobb, police said.

Cobb County Police are seeking help in finding a man accused of a string of wallet thefts at grocery stores.

The suspect is described by police as a black male between 5’11” and 6’2” who weighs between 180 and 210 pounds. Police said he reaches into victims’ purses while they’re shopping at grocery stores. He then uses the stolen credit cards at nearby stores to purchase high-end electronics, said police investigators.

Police said the man usually wears a light colored baseball cap and a light colored, long-sleeve dress shirt. Security camera footage of the man shows what investigators call “effeminate mannerisms.”
