Cobb Woman Killed in Two-Vehicle Accident

A 70-year-old Powder Springs woman died of injuries sustained in May 30 wreck in Powder Springs.

Cobb police say a 70-year-old Powder Springs woman died of injuries sustained in a wreck last week on New Macland Road north of Macedonia Road in Powder Springs.

According to Sgt. Dana Pierce, the incident happened on May 30 at approximately 3:15 p.m.

That’s when Elaine C. Foust was operating a 1999 Dodge Neon northbound on New Macland when at the same time the driver of a 2001 Toyota Camry was attempting to exit a private drive in the 3200 New Macland.

For reasons unknown according to Pierce, the driver of the Toyota, 19-year-old Andrew C. Polk of Powder Springs, failed to yield to the Dodge, which was struck on the left side. Foust was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, but died as a result of the injuries she sustained in the crash.

Polk was injured in the accident but refused treatment at the scene. Investigators expect to file charges in this case and anyone with information about it is asked to call 770-499-3987.
