Drunk Teen Encouraged to Race on Cumberland

The teen was involved in an accident that resulted in injuries.

Cobb police said an 18-year-old Marietta man shares some of the blame for a Sunday morning accident on Cumberland Parkway that injured at least one person.

In an arrest warrant, authorities said Eduardo Salazar-Castro allegedly encouraged a drunk child to drag race on Cumberland Parkway.

That, police said, "contributed to said accident with injuries. One passenger sustained significant injuries, which resulted in three of his fingers being deemed unusable."

The juvenile was charged with DUI, reckless driving, racing on highways or streets and felony serious injury by vehicle, according to the warrant.

Salazar-Castro, who had also been drinking, was arrested Tuesday on charges that include furnishing, purchasing and possession of alcoholic beverages by persons below legal age and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He remains in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center in lieu of $5,000 bond.
