UPDATE: Firefighters Extinguish Smyrna House Fire
The blaze was reported just before 1 p.m. Tuesday.
UPDATE (2:03 p.m.): Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services Public Relations Coordinator Dennell Boyd has told Smyrna-Vinings Patch that the house fire in the 2100 block of Cooper Lake Road has been put out.
According to information provided by Boyd, a neighbor called to report the house fire at 12:59 p.m. A truck and a squad from Cobb Fire responded to the blaze and discovered the home's roof totally engulfed in flames.
The occupants of the home were able to evacuate by the time firefighters arrived on scene, and nobody was reported to be injured.
A unit from the Smyrna Fire Department came to assist, and the firefighters adopted a defensive posture to battle the blaze. The home has been extensively damaged by the fire, Boyd told Patch.
ORIGINAL STORY (1:51 p.m.): Firefighters are on the scene of a house fire on Cooper Lake Road in Smyrna.
The fire was reported to Cobb County 911 at 12:59 p.m., a spokesperson with the Cobb County Fire Department told Patch. The spokesperson confirmed that the home on fire is in the 2100 block of Cooper Lake Road, near the intersection of Atlanta Road.
Smyrna Fire Department resources have been dispatched to help battle the blaze as of 1:51 p.m., Tuesday.
