Police: Fraudulent Cards Found During Smyrna Traffic Stop

The suspect is being held on a dozen charges.

A Miami man who was pulled over early Saturday in Smyrna faces a dozen charges, including seven counts of identity fraud.

Just before 1:45 a.m. Saturday, Cobb police stopped Chacon Dexter Lumpkin at the Interstate 285 on-ramp on South Cobb Drive because his tail lights and tag lights were not on, according to an arrest warrant.

During a search of the vehicle, law enforcement found a counterfeit Florida driver's license, according to the warrant. Lumpkin allegedly had a fraudulent Discover card and five Visa debit cards bearing the names of three different people, records show.

The Discover card was used to make a fraudulent $826.20 purchase at an Atlanta Neiman Marcus store on Aug. 2, according to the warrant. After Discover canceled the card, someone attempted to use the card to purchase $720.09 worth of items from Pure Denim, also in Atlanta.

Lumpkin is in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.
