Former Glock CEO Tries for Second Trial
Paul Januzzo's attorney argued Monday in a Cobb County courtroom that his client deserved a second trial.
A Cobb County judge needs more time to consider if the former CEO of Glock Inc. needs a new trial after he was convicted of theft and racketeering in March, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported.
Paul Januzzo is the former CEO of Glock Inc., which is headquartered in Smyrna. Earlier this year he was found guilty of theft and racketeering and sentenced to seven years in prison and 13 years probation. Jurors found Januzzo guilty of embezzling $5 million of company money between 1993 and 2001 and of stealing a custom-made pistol.
However, Monday his attorney John Da Grossa Smith argued before Cobb County Judge LaTain Kell that prosecutors had never proved that his client stole the pistol, only that it was loaned to him. They then linked the gun theft to the racketeering in order to obtain an indictment.

Smithβs argument lasted four hours, which left no time for prosecutors to rebut. Kell scheduled a second hearing for July 6.
