Man Arrested For Reporting False Assault At Smyrna CVS

The 38-year-old Chamblee man reported he was attacked by an employee, but no evidence was found to support his allegations.

A Chamblee man was arrested just before Christmas after Smyrna police say he filed a false police report concerning an "assault" at a Smyrna CVS.

According to the Marietta Daily Journal, 38-year-old Jonathan Eric Cohen told police on Dec. 22 that he was the victim of a simple assault and simple battery at the hands of an employee of the pharmacy at 2994 Atlanta Rd.

After investigating the allegations by looking at security camera footage and talking with witnesses, police learned that no assault had taken place and offered Cohen a chance to retract his statements. Cohen refused to do so and was arrested on Dec. 23.

Cohen was charged with misdemeanor false report of a crime. Records provided by the Cobb County Sheriff's Office show that Cohen was released on a $2,500 bond later that same day.
