Man Flees Smyrna Traffic Stop, Cops Find Drugs, Guns, Money

A 35-year-old Miami man is being held without bond after a traffic stop in Smyrna earlier this month allegedly uncovered over a pound of cocaine, scales, and three pistols.

A Miami man is behind bars at the Cobb County Adult Detention Facility after police say they found cocaine, marijuana, three firearms, a large amount of money, and paraphernalia in his car.

35-year-old Xavieus Omar McCray was arrested by Cobb County police on Thursday, Jan. 9. The Marietta Daily Journal reports McCray was caught after running from his car after it was pulled over at Dixie Avenue and Windy Hill Road.

Once police got to look inside McCray's vehicle, they discovered over a pound of cocaine, over an ounce of marijuana, a scale, and nearly $500 in cash. Police also found a .40-caliber handgun, a .38-caliber handgun, and a 9-millimeter handgun inside the vehicle.

According to jail records, McCray has been charged with three counts of felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, felony possession of marijuana, felony cocaine trafficking, and misdemeanor obstruction of a law enforcement officer. He is being held without bond.
