Update: Police ID Man Shot at Smyrna Zaxby's

"Homicide investigators ... advised that they did not know where the victim lived," Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce said.

Update 9:31 a.m.

The man who died after a Wednesday night shooting at the Zaxby's near Interstate 285 has been identified as 29-year-old Jarvis McNabb.

About 8:30 p.m., McNabb was shot in the parking lot of the restaurant at 5201 South Cobb Dr., Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce said.

He was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Pierce said.

"Moments after the crime," he said, "witnesses reported seeing one male flee on foot and two other males flee onto South Cobb Drive in what was described as a red compact 4-door car."

A Wednesday night shooting at the Zaxby's near Interstate 285 left one man dead, police said.

About 8:30 p.m., the unidentified man was shot in the parking lot of the restaurant at 5201 South Cobb Dr., Officer Mike Bowman told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Marietta Daily Journal.

He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Bowman said.

No one was in custody as of Wednesday night, he told the AJC.
