Missing Smyrna Man Located Near Nickajack Creek

A Smyrna man who went missing last month has been located deceased.

On Saturday, April 5, the Smyrna Police Department responded to reports of a body found in the woodline near Nickajack Creek and Fontaine Road.

Two men were walking in the woodline near the creek searching for a unique mushroom that grows in that area when they located the body.

The Cobb County Medical Examiner’s office positively identified the body as Micah James LaBorde, 42. A Mattie’s call was issued for LaBorde on March 10, 2014 when he went missing and made threats to commit suicide.

LaBorde was last seen in the area of Fontaine Road and the East/West Connector near the Silver Comet Trail where his vehicle was parked.

The Smyrna Police Department along with the Cobb County Police Department conducted a grid search of LaBorde’s last known location and were unable to locate him. This incident is being ruled a suicide and no foul play is suspected.
