Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Windy Hill Accident

The motorcyclist sustained lacerations and a broken leg after she clipped a Toyota Corolla.

UPDATE: Smyrna police say a motorcycle driver sustained lacerations and a broken leg after she struck a Toyota Corolla on Windy Hill Road westbound at around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The motorcyclist was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for her injuries. Police on the scene could not yet identify the motorcyclist or the driver of the Toyota.

Officer Robert Harvey said the driver of the red Suzuki sport bike was traveling westbound on Windy Hill Road when the driver of the Toyota Corolla began to turn right into the T.V. Analyst parking lost just east of Belmont Circle. The motorcycle clipped the Toyota’s bumper and then began a rollover.

“It appears she was ejected, but I can’t confirm that,” he said. “I don’t have any evidence that she was. If she rode that bike down with all that she was pretty good—a pretty good rider. It was a violent rollover about 60 feet, probably 60 feet.”

Police say the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and they are still determining if speed was a factor in the accident though alcohol was not. Citations are pending.
