Police Searching for Suicidal Smyrna Man, Son

The 35-year-old took his 9-year-old son from their home on Oakdale Drive before police could arrive.

The Smyrna Police Department is looking for a potentially-suicidal man who has taken his young son from their home.

WSB-TV reports that 35-year-old Ryan Stow was threatening to commit "suicide by cop" at his home on Oakdale Drive, near Tolleson Park, on Tuesday. Before police were able to arrive on scene, Stow took his son, 9-year-old Braiden Cole Stow, and fled the area.

The elder Stow is 6'1", weighs around 160 lbs. and has green eyes and several tattoos. The younger Stow is 4'8", with blue eyes and blond hair. He was last seen wearing shorts, a t-shirt, and blue and yellow slippers.

Stow senior drives a burgundy 1995 Buick LeSabre with Georgia license plate 34618QC.
