Reminder: Parts of I-285 Closed Sunday Morning

Cobb police will close some of I-285's eastbound lanes west of the Chattahoochee to complete an accident investigation.

Cobb Police and HERO will close the lanes several of I-285’s eastbound lanes west of the Chattahoochee River beginning at 8 a.m. Sunday as they complete their investigation into

Public Information Officer Dana Smith said officers will take turns closing a few lanes at a time while they take measurements and recreate the accident.

“They’re only going to close lanes temporarily then open them and then close another three or four and then open those,” he said. “Hopefully by then they’ll be totally off the Interstate.

“It’s not like a normal week obviously, but it’s still going to impact traffic. We’re definitely going to use HERO to slow folks down and move over those lane-mergers and get folks out of there as quick as we can.”

The three-car accident Thursday injured one driver and killed his passenger. The cause of the accident is still unknown at this time.
