Smyrna Citizens Police Academy Open for Registration

The academy is limited to 15 seats, and will cover topics such as police ethics and criminal investigations.

Smyrna residents who are interested in learning more about the workings of police work can now register for the 12-week Smyrna Citizens Police Academy, which will begin in September.

According to the city's website, the 15-person academy will meet for 11 consecutive three-hour Monday sessions and will cover topics such as criminal investigations, use of force, police ethics, child crimes, and constitutional law.

People who wish to apply for the Citizens Police Academy must be over 18 years old. Non-residents of Smyrna may apply, but Smyrna residents will get priority. To apply, please fill out this application form and background check authorization form.
