According to Smyrna police, Smyrna Communications Officer Tammy Morrical played a significant role in helping deliver a baby this week on Ridge Road.

On Wednesday shortly after 8 a.m., Morrical fielded a 911 call from Joshua Hendricks in reference to his wife, Virginia Hendricks, going into labor. During the course of the call, Morrical was advised that the couple was stuck in traffic on Ridge Rd. near Atlanta Road.

Morrical advised Mr. Hendricks to pull to the side of the road and began the Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) protocol with Mr. Hendricks on the phone.

Through her training and utilization of E.M.D. protocol, Morrical was successful in walking the couple through the birth of a healthy baby girl on the side of Ridge Rd.

Mrs. Hendricks and the baby were transported to a local hospital and are doing great.
