Smyrna Duo Arrested in Mississippi After Shooting

Man and woman from the Jonquil City were both charged with felony possession of marijuana following Friday drive-by shooting.

A Smyrna man was arrested in Gulfport, Miss., on Friday and charged with one count of drive-by shooting and one count of felony possession of marijuana according to a story by the Biloxi Sun Herald.

According to police in the news story, William Sykes Jr., 51, fired a gun at a residence after an argument shortly after 3 p.m. on Friday.

Another Smyrna resident, Katrina Payton, 40, was also arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana.

No one was reported injured despite several bullets hitting the residential building.

The news outlet went on to report that Sykes’ bond was set at $200,000 for the shooting and $50,000 for the possession charge. Payton’s bond was set at $50,000.
