Smyrna Man Arrested in 2011 Armed Robbery

Andrae Decarlos Foster allegedly robbed a Chevron gas station in Woodstock in December 2011.

A Smyrna man has been arrested in connection to a December 2011 at a gas station in Woodstock.

The Woodstock Police Department has charged Andrae Decarlos Foster, 35, with armed robbery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to a press release from the agency on Friday.

Woodstock police investigators were able to identify Foster after following up on leads that tied him to the crime. He was taken into custody with the assistance from the Georgia State Patrol. 

Woodstock police on Dec. 7, 2011, responded to an armed robbery call at 10:10 p.m. the Chevron gas station at 238 Arnold Mill Road.

Officers met with the store clerk, who said a man came into the store around 9:45 p.m., purchased five lottery tickets and lingered inside the store. 

At around 10 p.m. that night, the clerk said told the suspect he was preparing to close the store. The suspect allegedly walked to the counter, pulled out a semi-automatic black handgun from his jacket and demanded the clerk to hand over money from the cash register.

After complying with the suspect's request, Foster then fled the store.  

Foster is being held at the Woodstock Police Department and will be transported to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.
