Smyrna Man Arrested in Marijuana Ring Bust

Rodgers Demond Burks and two Atlanta residents were arrested and charged with marijuana trafficking.

A Smyrna man is behind bars after being arrested Thursday morning in the culmination of an 18-month investigation into a drug running operation.

According to CBS Atlanta, 38-year-old Rodgers Demond Burks of Grady Street in Smyrna was arrested and charged with conspiracy to traffic marijuana. Burks' co-conspirators, 37-year-old Riyaad Nabaa of Atlanta and 44-year-old Cherisa Saunders of Atlanta, were also arrested during the bust.

The arrests were the final act of an investigation carried out by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office and the Cobb County District Attorney's Office. Agencies which assisted with Thursdays' arrests included the Smyrna Police Department and the Cobb County Police Department.
