Smyrna Man Faces Burglary Charges
He allegedly broke into three vehicles at three different addresses.
A Smyrna man who allegedly broke into three vehicles led police on a brief chase through the a residential neighborhood.
About 1:40 a.m. Aug. 1, Stephen Asher Eidson broke into a 2012 Ford Fusion in the 500 block of Country Park Drive Southeast and a 2004 Jeep Wrangler in the 2800 block of Arden Way Southeast, according to an arrest warrant.
While en route to a suspicious person call on Arden Way, a Smyrna police officer saw Eidson inside a white 2008 Ford Super Duty Truck in the 2200 block of Beech Valley Drive Southeast.
"When I illuminated the said accused with my spotlight," according to a warrant, "the said accused jumped out of the truck and into his silver Toyota Tacoma single cab truck and left the scene. I initiated my blue lights and the vehicle failed to stop."
Eidson was forced to stop when he reached the end of a cul-de-sac and had nowhere to turn. According to the warrant, he had a flashlight clipped to his belt, pliers inside his truck and a battery with cut cables in the bed of the truck.
Eidson was arrested on three counts of burglary as well as one count each of attempting to elude a police officer and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.
He remains in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center in lieu of $35,000 bond.
