Smyrna Man Killed by Train

It is unknown why the 29-year-old was on the tracks or if alcohol had anything to do with the incident.

Investigators are trying to determine what led to a Smyrna man being hit and killed by a train early Friday morning.

According to the Cobb County Police Department, 29-year-old Daniel Rasmussen was found dead on CSX railroad tracks that cross Interstate 285 across from Cumberland Boulevard.

After hitting Rasmussen, the train conductor contacted 911, authorities said.

It is not clear whether or not alcohol was a contributing factor to the man's death.
