Smyrna Man Uses Pocket Knife in Stabbing; Three People Shot in Car

Smyrna Man Stabs Person Three Times


A Smyrna man was arrested early this month after allegedly stabbing a man three times behind an apartment complex on Atlanta Road.

The Marietta Daily Journal reports that 48-year-old Evis Roderiguez Figueroa was arrested shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 2 after attacking a man with a fold-out pocket knife. The warrant acquired by the MDJ says that Figueroa stabbed his victim twice in the chest and once in the leg before he himself was attacked by a good Samaritan coming to the aid of his victim.

Figueroa fled the scene in his green pick up truck, but was arrested at roughly 1 a.m. on Nov. 3, according to records at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. He was charged with felony aggravated assault.

Figueroa was released on Nov. 6 after posting $50,000 bond.

Car Shot At


A Smyrna man is behind bars at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center after authorities say he fired at three people inside a car with a .40 caliber handgun.

37-year-old James Dewey Young II allegedly opened fire on the vehicle just before 4 a.m. on Oct. 31 outside the Lincoln Trace Apartment Complex.

According to a warrant obtained by the Marietta Daily Journal21 spent shell casings were recovered from the scene.

Records at the Cobb Adult Detention Center indicate that Young was arrested at 2:25 p.m. on Nov. 1 in Acworth. He has been charged with felony second degree criminal damage to property, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and two counts of felony aggravated assault. He is being held without bond.
