Smyrna Police: Man Sold Cocaine 30 Feet from Park

Smyrna police officers allegedly discovered over 50 bags of cocaine.

A Smyrna man is behind bars at the Cobb County Adult Detention Facility after his Nov. 1 arrest for allegedly selling cocaine out of his parked car 30 feet from a park.

According to the arrest warrant obtained by the Marietta Daily Journal, 49-year-old Kenyon Conley of the 1800 block of Teasley Drive in Smyrna was arrested after a tipster told Smyrna police that Conley was allegedly selling cocaine out of his driveway, which is located 300 feet from Rose Garden School and only 30 feet from Rose Garden Park.

The MDJ reports that when officers arrived to investigate the tip, Conley was seated in his parked maroon Dodge van. Conley was arrested, asked for permission to search his van, and taken to Smyrna Police Department headquarters.

The warrant says that officers discovered that Conley had kept the drugs on his person when a sandwich bag filled with 51 smaller bags of cocaine was discovered in the seat of the squad car Conley had been transported in.

Conley has been charged with felony possession or manufacture of controlled substances near a park, felony possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, and felony possession, manufacture, or distribution of controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school.

Records kept by the Cobb County Sheriff's Office indicate Conley's bond has been set at $16,720. Conley has yet to be released, the records say.

Rose Garden School currently houses the Metropolitan Regional Education Service Agency, a teacher training program. The Cobb County School District also uses the facility for homeless education.
