A Smyrna woman who worked as a classroom aide at Smyrna's Norton Park Elementary school has been accused of assaulting a 5-year-old autistic boy.
Karen Bean allegedly slapped the child across the cheek after being spat on. The strike reportedly left a visible red mark.
The incident occurred in a pre-kindergarten classroom on Feb. 25 between 12:15 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. Bean, who was arrested on Monday on the misdemeanor battery charge, was released from the Cobb County jail on a $2,970 bond.
