Bobbie Jean Casey was a passenger in a car involved in a wreck at the intersection of Macland and John Ward roads on Thursday afternoon

Cobb police say an 80-year-old Smyrna woman died following a multi-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon in Marietta.

According to Sgt. Dana Pierce, Bobbie Jean Casey was a passenger in a car involved in a wreck at the intersection of Macland and John Ward roads. At approximately 1:30 p.m., Casey was in a 1993 Toyota Camry being operated by Judy Williams of Hapeville that was approaching the intersection.

At the same time, Ray Eichenlaub of Marietta was driving a 2011 Toyota Sienna that was traveling eastbound on Macland Road in the left turn lane to John Ward Road. According to Pierce, β€œfor reasons unknown, as the driver of the Sienna attempted to turn left onto northbound John Ward Road, he turned into the path of the Camry. After the Camry struck the passenger side of the Sienna, it continued through the intersection where it struck a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer, which was stopped on John Ward Road.”
