Smyrna Woman Killed in Douglas County Car Crash

Michelle Kamika Chinnis, 35, from Smyrna, was the driver of the Nissan and died after being extricated; and Tracy P. Downer, 44, from Atlanta was the passenger in the Nissan and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two people killed in the  have been identified, according to Gordy Wright, spokesman for the Georgia State Patrol.

The truck driver is identified as Robert John Sansom, 64, from Colorado. He was not injured.

The tractor trailer was northbound on Thornton Rd. and struck the Nissan in the driver's side. The vehicles then crossed into the southbound lanes and hit two vehicles.

The crash remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team and the GSP post in Villa Rica. Any charges from the crash will be pending the completion of the investigation. The four people from the other vehicles involved were transported to Grady and are in stable condition according to the trooper.
