The driver of the Jeep, identified as 46-year-old Karmen Edmond, of Smyrna, was not injured in the crash and will not be cited in this incident according to police.

Cobb police say the teenage boy who was hit by a vehicle last week in the southern portion of the county has died.

The boy, whose name and age has not been released, was struck on the afternoon of June 25 while attempting to cross the East-West Connector on the east side of Floyd Road in Austell.

According to Officer Mike Bowman, a silver 2005 Jeep Cherokee was eastbound on the E-W Connector and approaching Floyd when two juveniles stopped on the concrete median separating the northbound and southbound lanes of the connector.

As the jeep entered the intersection on a green traffic signal, one of the juveniles, who was not in a crosswalk and did not have the right of way, entered into the left travel lane and into the path of the oncoming Jeep. The front of the Jeep struck the juvenile in the left travel lane.

As a result of the collision, the teen was transported by ambulance to Scottish Rite Hospital, where on Friday, June 27, he was pronounced deceased.
