Texas Man Wanted Years After Smyrna Abuse

The alleged abuse "progressed to more severe sexual acts" as the girl got older, according to a Cobb County criminal warrant.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Texas man who allegedly molested, raped and sodomized a Smyrna girl from the ages of 8 to 12.

Hugo Alberto Alvarez-Zuniga of Los Fresnos, Texas, is wanted on charges that include two counts of child molestation, one count of aggravated child molestation, one count of aggravated sexual battery, one count of aggravated sodomy and one count of rape.

The alleged abuse occurred between November 2003 and August 2008 at the Galleria Courtyards, the Walton on the Chattahoochee and another unspecified apartment complex on Powers Ferry Road Southeast, according to a Cobb County criminal warrant.

Alvarez-Zuniga lived with the girl's mother at the time of the alleged abuse, which "progressed to more severe sexual acts" as the girl got older, according to the warrant.

The alleged abuse ended when the girl, her mother and siblings moved from Georgia to New York without Alvarez-Zuniga, records show.

The girl turns 18 years old next month, according to the warrant.
