Two Arrested at Cumberland Mall

Agents with Marietta-Cobb-Smyrna Narcotics Unit found cocaine and marijuana in an occupied Mercedes Benz.

Two men were arrested in a Cumberland Mall parking lot after narcotics agents found 9.38 pounds of cocaine, 5.4 grams of marijuana and 2.8 grams of suspected crack cocaine in the front passenger seat of a Mercedes Benz.

Agents with Marietta-Cobb-Smyrna Narcotics Unit found Rodney Lamont Holmes of Covington behind the wheel of the Mercedes about 8:45 p.m. July 30, according to an arrest warrant. Joshua Nikka Sumerlin of Riverdale was the passenger, according to another warrant.

Both men allegedly "attempted to elude law enforcement by quickly exiting the vehicle and trying to run on foot as marked patrol cars, with blue emergency lights, approached the said accused and co-defendant who were sitting in a parked vehicle," according to the warrants.

Holmes and Sumerlin each face four charges, including trafficking more than 28 grams of cocaine, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana less than one ounce and obstruction. They are in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.
